Autumn/Winter 2017: Pick up the Hottest Runway Trends on a Budget

The slew of political statements on the A/W 2017 runways didn’t completely manage to overshadow the fashion trends. Here’s my round-up of some of the hottest trends, as well as some tips and tricks on how to easily incorporate them into your wardrobe if you’re on a budget:

Red

If there is one color I’m going to try and inject into my wardrobe this season, it’s red. Head-to-toe red was spotted on the catwalks of Fendi, Max Mara, and Givenchy.  Luckily, it’s a color that works on all skin tones, and it’s super simple for those on a budget. You probably already have more red pieces in your wardrobe than you think (I did!). If not, check out this knitted red ruffle dress by PrettyLittleThing at ASOS to nail two trends with one piece.

Patterned and colorful tights

Yep – yet another trend that we can all afford to incorporate. Spotted on the Balenciaga and Mulberry runway, amongst others, there was an array of zany and quirky tights on show. I plan to keep my pins warm with these pretty butterfly print tights from Calzedonia.

Messages on tees and tops

I have a feeling this is a trend that will quickly be picked up by fashion brands everyone. This season, there was a slew of tees emblazoned with (often empowering) messages, with everyone from Dolce & Gabbana to Versace forging this trend. I love this cute little fur detail tee from Mango.

Check print

I’m talking comfy flannel shirts and huge lumberjack-style coats. This is truly a trend that I can always get on board with. Hollister has a great range of soft checked shirts on offer.

Oversized baggage

I love the fact that I can cart all my stuff around in one bag. Enormous bags made for some great arm candy on the runways this A/W. This is a trend that’s both functional and stylish and allows you to be functional while remaining on-trend. I’m obsessed with this reversible tote bag by Zara – it looks much more expensive than it actually is, don’t you think?

Hats, hats, hats

Dior, Coach and Marc Jacobs finished off their model’s looks with bold (and fairly large) hats. If I can hide my bad hair days while remaining on trend, I’m not complaining. How cute is this captain’s cap by H&M?
